about

Sure it was the 80s and it wouldn't be until well over 30 years later when Kevin's life would be stolen from him before his time, but there are times when you sit back and watch someone compose from the heart.

I remember how the atmosphere changed the night Kevin composed this. It felt different. There was something in the air... it wasn't quite defeat or betrayal or pining or frustration or loneliness or mortality... or perhaps it was all of those. I just remember Kevin putting this together silently during the night, recording it to the Nakamichi, then turning to me with that serious face he tried to hide but if you knew him, you knew.... and tries to pass it off exclaiming, "Oh, that's called Sad Song!" in all the same mannerisms and delivery of Nigel Tufnel's delivery of naming "Lick My Love Pump" followed by his quick change smile.

That was Kevin.
